Cattle
Risinger Veterinary Hospital is equipped for all your cattle needs! Several pipe-fenced pens are available for holding and sorting cattle. We have a working area with concrete, textured flooring to aid in traction for cattle moving to and from the squeeze chute. The squeeze chute is hydraulic, equipped with a scale for accurate weight, and side panels that provide access for standing surgeries such as castrations and cesarean sections. We have several electric brands in stock as well as a propane branding pot if you wish to bring your own hot iron. There is a full line of vaccinations, anti-helminthics (dewormers) and other medications in stock for all ages of cattle. Our routine bull breeding soundness examination utilizes an electro-ejaculator to collect semen for microscopic examination of motility and morphology. Each breeding soundness examination also includes a physical examination of the bull and reproductive tract and collection of samples for Trichomoniasis (Trich) testing when needed. We are experienced in helping heifers with dystocia whether vaginally or by cesarean. All of the veterinarians on staff at Risinger Veterinary Hospital are USDA accredited and can gladly provide a health certificate for the interstate shipment of cattle.
Horses, Donkeys, Mules and Ponies
At Risinger Veterinary Hospital, we are glad to provide routine and preventative care for your equines. Although we do not have a large animal surgery suite, we do have a standing stock for procedures such as nasogastric deworming, vaccinations, physical examinations and floating teeth. Intravenous sedation is typically utilized for complete oral examination in order to provide efficient dental care with our power float and oral speculum.
Sedation may not be necessary for rectal palpation and ultrasound of the mare reproductive tract as our ultrasound machine is equipped with the appropriate size probe. We have a mobile MinRay large animal radiograph machine to utilize digital radiography for diagnosing and assessing orthopedic conditions. We do not have the ability to provide full limb radiographs or extensive lameness examination for a thorough pre-purchase examination; therefore, we recommend taking your potential investment to an equine only facility for this service. We frequently utilize our Companion Laser on injured joints and wounds to decrease inflammation and promote healing. Our in-house Abaxis bloodwork machines quickly provide values regarding internal organ function and complete blood cell counts. Risinger Equine Laboratory housed inside Risinger Veterinary Hospital gives us the ability to provide Coggins (EIA) test results in 24 hours or in less than 1 hour if desired. We can help you in the selection of the appropriate anti-helminthic (dewormer) by preforming an intestinal parasite screen in house in less than 15 minutes. All of the veterinarians on staff are USDA accredited and can gladly provide a health certificate with physical examination of your equine.

Our ultrasound machine is equipped with various probes to aid in the diagnosing and treatment of urinary obstruction seen commonly in goats. We have a mobile MinRay large animal radiograph machine to utilize digital radiography for diagnosing and assessing orthopedic conditions. We are experienced in helping does and ewes with dystocia whether vaginally or by cesarean. The small animal surgery suite and anesthesia equipment may be utilized as needed for surgeries on small ruminants.
